About Me
I received my Doctor of Psychology degree from The George Washington University in 2001, and my undergraduate degree from Northwestern University. I completed my Pre-Doctoral Internship at Cambridge Hospital/Harvard Medical School and Post-Doctoral Fellowship at Sheppard Pratt Hospital in Baltimore, in the Trauma Services Program. I was a Psychologist and Clinical Supervisor on the inpatient psychiatry unit at The Center: Post-Traumatic Disorders Program at the Psychiatric Institute of Washington for 5 years.
From 2010 to 2013, I was the Psychologist on the inpatient psychiatry unit at the Washington, DC Veterans Affairs Medical Center, and in the outpatient Trauma Services Program. From 2013 to 2015, I lived in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates, where I was the Associate Director of Counseling at New York University. This was a fascinating experience, both professionally and personally. I developed a deep understanding of the challenges of living overseas, cultural understanding of the Middle East, and deepened my clinical skill set in working with young adults. I also have a special interest in providing psychotherapy to individuals living overseas.
Currently, my private practice focuses on adolescents and adults who struggle with relationship issues, depression and anxiety, and trauma issues, including Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder and Dissociative Disorders. I also serve as a training director at a psychiatric hospital in Washington, DC, where I supervise and teach Clinical Psychology doctoral students.
I have published and presented on the diagnosis and treatment of complex trauma disorders, including Dissociative Disorders, as well as provided workshops on this clinical area at psychiatric hospitals and programs throughout the East Coast. I have maintained a private practice since 2006 (with the exception of the time overseas).
